The past month has seen leadership change within a number of not-for-profits (NFPs) involved in the health sector.
National Breast Cancer Foundation
Sue Murray, the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, has announced that she will step down after ten years in the Foundation’s top position.
Some of the achievements during Murray’s time include:
- The creation of Australia’s first National Action Plan for Breast Cancer Research and Funding
- The re-invention of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, which attracted a new generation of supporters and provided vital funding for young women affected by breast cancer
- The appointment of Sarah Murdoch as Patron of the Foundation.
Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation
Ian Chalmers has commenced as new CEO of the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation.
Chalmers’ former roles include Chief Executive of Medicines Australia, the Australian Local Government Association and the Australian Private Hospitals Association.
His board experience includes appointments as a non-executive director of the Health Employees Superannuation Trust Australia (HESTA), the Private Sector Casemix Unit and Public Libraries Australia. Third Sector
